Locations - Daily Openings
The Average Daily Openings metrics show how many new appointment slots each location releases per day on average, helping you make informed decisions about which locations to monitor.
What These Metrics Show
Daily Activity
- Daily breakdown of each of the last 7 calendar days
- Shows number of future appointment openings found each day
- Openings could be for same-day or any point in the future
- Metrics are updated nightly - data from "today" is not included
- Does not indicate how may total slots may be available that day
How It's Calculated
- Data source: Based on actual appointment slot releases tracked by SpotPatrol
- Time period: Rolling 7-day average of new appointments found daily
- Real-time updates: Updated nightly to always provide accurate data
- Rounded values: Displayed as whole numbers for easy comparison
What the Numbers Mean
Average Levels
- High (30+ per day): High activity location with frequent releases
- Moderate (10-29 per day): Moderate activity with regular appointment availability
- Low (1-9 per day): Low activity with occasional appointments
- None (0 per day): Very rare appointments or inactive location
Using the Metric Strategically
For Location Selection
High numbers indicate:
- More frequent notifications
- Higher probability of finding appointments
- Potentially more competitive (faster booking required)
Lower numbers indicate:
- Fewer notifications overall
- When appointments do appear, they may stay available longer
- Less competitive but also less frequent opportunities
Understanding the Visual Indicators
Each location shows a colored icon representing activity level:
- Green bar (full): High availability (30+ daily)
- Blue bar (3/4): Moderate availability (10-29 daily)
- Yellow bar (1/2): Low availability (1-9 daily)
- Red bar (1/4): No regular availability (0 daily)

Interpreting Patterns
Seasonal Variations
- Activity levels can change based on seasonal travel patterns
- Some locations may be more active during specific times of year
- Monitor changes over time to adjust your selections
Location Types
Airport locations typically show:
- Higher activity during business hours
- More consistent daily patterns
- Higher overall activity numbers
Border crossing locations may show:
- Different release timing patterns
- Varying activity based on local factors
- More specialized appointment availability
Release Timing Context
- High-activity locations often release appointments during business hours
- The metric shows volume but not timing - use date/time filters for timing control
- Consider your ability to respond quickly to notifications from high-activity locations
Maximizing Your Strategy
Monitoring Effectiveness
- Start with high-activity locations for immediate results
- Add strategic low-activity options for less competitive backup opportunities
- Adjust based on results - if high-activity locations generate too many unusable notifications, consider medium-activity alternatives
Balancing Volume and Usefulness
- More notifications isn't always better if they're for times/dates you can't use
- Use date and time filters to focus high-activity locations on your available periods
- Lower-activity locations can be monitored with broader filters since notifications are less frequent
Limitations to Keep in Mind
Past Performance vs. Future Results
- The metric reflects recent historical data
- Appointment release patterns can change
- Use as a guide, not a guarantee of future activity
Quality vs. Quantity
- High activity doesn't guarantee appointment availability when you need it
- Consider your specific scheduling needs alongside activity levels
- Sometimes a well-timed notification from a low-activity location is more valuable than frequent notifications you can't use
The Average Daily Openings metric is a powerful tool for optimizing your location selection strategy. Use it alongside your geographic preferences, travel flexibility, and scheduling needs to build an effective monitoring approach.
