SMS / Text
Get instant text alerts when appointments open up at your monitored locations. SMS is included with Standard service and works with US phone numbers only.
Adding / Changing Your Phone Number
Head to your Profile page and add your US phone number. After you save it, we'll send you a verification code - just enter that 6-digit code to confirm your number and you're all set.
Can't find the verification text? Wait up to 5 minutes for delivery, then click Resend Code if needed. Make sure you're using a US mobile number as we can't send texts internationally.
Managing Your Text Notifications
Want to pause texts temporarily? Go to Notification Methods on your dashboard and toggle the switch next to your phone number or use the Pause / Activate buttons. You can turn them back on anytime.
Your SMS status shows you what's happening:
- Active (green) - You're all set and getting text alerts
- Paused (yellow) - Your number is verified but texts are turned off
- Trial Mode (gray) - You'll need Standard service to get text notifications
- Pending Verification (orange) - You need to verify your number with the code we sent
Trial vs Standard Service
Text notifications are only available with Standard service. Trial users can still get email and browser notifications, and you can upgrade anytime to unlock texting. For more information, refer to this service comparison article.
US Only
We can only send texts to US phone numbers due to messaging regulations. If you're outside the US, you can still get notifications through email and your browser.
Not Getting Texts?
Here are some things to try:
Check the basics first - Make sure your number is verified (look for that green "Active" status), notifications are turned on, and you have Standard service.
Carrier issues - Some mobile carriers block automated messages. If you're not getting verification codes or alerts, try contacting your carrier about message filtering.
Try resending - If the verification code doesn't arrive, wait 5 minutes then click Resend Code. Sometimes network delays happen.
Check for STOP replies - If you previously replied "STOP" to any text from SpotPatrol, all future SMS will be blocked until you contact your carrier to opt back in.
